Coming from China, Wenlin received her bachelors degree in journalism and mass communication from Peking University in 2008 and a masters degree in political communication from the University of Washington, Seattle. During her undergraduate exchange program in Toronto, she became deeply interested in immigrant community building, especially how ethnic media and interpersonal networks both play a role in promoting immigrants’ civic engagement. In China, she has interned for the Reuters’ Beijing office and China’s First Financial Daily.
Wenlin joined Metamorphosis as a first year doctoral student at USC Annenberg School for Communication in 2010. She is currently working on the Alhambra project to examine how locally based storytelling networks contribute to residents’ political socialization and civic engagement.
