Coming from China, Wenlin received her bachelors degree in journalism and mass communication from Peking University in 2008 and a masters degree in political communication from the University of Washington, Seattle. In China, she has interned for the Reuters’ Beijing office and China’s First Financial Daily.

Wenlin joined Metamorphosis as a first year doctoral student at USC Annenberg School for Communication in 2010. She worked on the Alhambra project to examine how locally based storytelling networks contribute to residents’ political socialization and civic engagement.

She earned her Ph.D. in Communication in 2016 at the University of Southern California.
