Charlotte Lapsansky Investigates the Application of Communication Infrastructure Theory in India
February 2, 2010

Charlotte Lapsansky is currently conducting her dissertation field work in India where she is investigating the application of Communication Infrastructure Theory to the implementation of international development communication campaigns.  She is conducting a case study of Breakthrough (www.breakthrough.tv), a human rights organization that builds community capacity to confront women’s rights issues ( in particular the intersectional issues of domestic violence and HIV) through mass media campaigns, grassroots mobilization, and network building among civil society groups. Charlotte is studying Breakthrough’s Bell Bajao (www.bellbajo.org) campaign as a case study to investigate the ways that a CIT approach can or could be useful as a planning framework for organizations working to promote changes in gender norms and related health behaviors.
